At least one person was killed after being involved in a two-car crash this past Saturday in Chino. According to Chino Valley Fire District spokesperson Massiel Ladron De Guevara, the accident occurred at 3:30 p.m. in the 11000 block of Ramona Avenue. The identities of the drivers involved have not been disclosed.
Very few details regarding the accident were immediately available. According to officer from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the drivers were the only occupants on each vehicle. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate them from their crumpled cars. De Guevara did not have information regarding the condition of the injured drivers. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries.
A CHP dispatcher later confirmed that at least one of the victims succumbed to his injuries. An investigation is still ongoing in order to find all the factors that were involved in the fatal collision and to determine which driver was at fault. Ramona Avenue was closed north of Philadelphia Street while emergency crews assessed the scene.
